The Nightlord Saga

You can also listen to the podcasts from my blog on archive.org.  Here is a brief overview of all the dnd games I currently run.

Last night the Rise of the Fallen Star heard a prophecy while at the Seelie Court of Fey.  The prophecy was given by King Arahun, King of Wind and his consort the Queen Nesarfa, Queen of Nature and Seasons.  I have explained to everyone how the campaigns are intertwined and that everything everyone does has some impact on the overall storyline.  This is meant to be an epic adventure where you can truly weave your character's stories into the game.  I hope you enjoy the prophecy and can see where this story is going.

----------

"The Darkness will continue to grow and devour the Dalelands in Night.  Over the next five years the one who was awoken will Rule with Shadow and Death.  Those who Harp and those Goodly men and women of Faerun will fight the Lord of the Night but many will die in bloody wars as the Darkness consumes the independent kingdoms around the Dales.

On the seventh  year, Heroes will come bearing the Sword of Kings wrought by Ancient Fey Magic, the 'Culdun de Sanguine'.  When brought to the Future King of the Dales will strengthen the small pockets of resistance hiding in the outskirts and the banner of hope will be with Battledale and Deepingdale.  Slowly the Darkness will begin to recede and be pushed back into the Ancient Forest of Cormanthor into his prison where agents of his brother The Great Wolflord who having been delivered his lost love from The Heroes Six has united under the banner of the Future King.

The Future King will bring the Daleslands a new great ruler and the Darkness will be locked away for many more years...  Already agents and heroes have been dispatched to the Lands of Dread to recover items from the Bardic Kingdom of Kartakass locked in shadow for a thousand years, heroes have traveled beneath the land to the Palelands to where the Sunless Citadel has been hidden from light for centuries to recover hidden magics.  A Storm is coming and soon all of Faerun will be rocked by a Dragon Flight as agents of Darkness work against the plans of the heroes some desiring fame and fortune other's with lust filled hearts plunder the kingdoms with their Liege Lord of Night.

Seek ye great heroes the Land known as the Blasted Kingdom from where heroes seldom return. Seek a place where magic has been torn and the tears of Mystra weep for the lost Weave.  Seek that place where the Weave of Magic is the most volatile.  Seek the Ruins of Myth Drannor and deep inside you will find the power to turn back the Darkness from the Fallen Star."

Here are some pictures from the Rise of the Fallen Star's last game where they battled through the Fae Courts and had to proove to the Goblin King they were worthy of being called equals in the Arena!  These maps are Scying Eye Games.

Viet an Rawr battle the Ettin Grognoc while the Goblin King of Fae watches on with bloodthirsty anticipation...

This is a letter for the Rise of the Fallen Star group written by the Elf that seperated from the group when they went to visit the Unseelie Court in the hopes of securing information to defeat the Nightlord.

----------------
Lavindra paused and rubbed the bridge of her nose, she was tired and was just finished the letter to Queen Brennon as well to her friends. The small tent was spartan at best. She didn't allow for many luxuries, not for the commission she was given. “Eventually”, continued to be her mantra.

Taking a long drink from the watered down wine, Lavindra grimaced and set it down, it had been ages since she had real wine, but she insured her men enjoyed what luxuries she managed to come across first. Her 'children' as she called them, originally were the men and women she had been assigned to help her kill the secret agents of Vecna.

Where she may have once, so long ago, considered them nothing but tools, like the creatures she summoned. Lavindra had matured, her tools were no longer such, but loyal allies to assist her as she needed. Just like her children, they had to be protected at all costs.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she doubted even her own friends would recognize her.

She looked once again at the letter she had penned and accepted that her friends would either understand it, or bring it to her for her to patiently explain.

'Friends,

If you are reading this, it means that you have returned from the Queen of the Unseelee court, either with information usable against the Nightlord, or at the very least, your skins and souls intact. Master Greenspree will be able to give you this letter and Eza will guide you back to me. However, if Eza is no longer there, that will mean I have fallen and you will instead report to Queen Brennon.

The two years I have been gone and the three which you have been removed from Toril could not have been worse timing. Thus I give you bad news and worse.

First, the bad news.

In the two years we were gone. Either Nightlord or his agents freed his brothers, it matters little who did it, only that once they were awakened, the Dalelands were lost. The Harpers had attempted to stop them, however, the result is still the same. Only Battledale and Deepingdale are left uncontrolled though heavily contested.

Lady Brennon is now Queen of Deepingdale, Lord Ulric fell in battle to the Bonelord, one of the brothers of the Nightlord. The report I was given, warned that one of the Seven Sisters was with him at the time of his death. They were both protecting a town to give it time to evacuate. Priests were despirate to protect their remains, but the only survivor of that expidition reported that Lord Ulric and Dove Silverhand are both now one of the Nightlords minions.

The Dragonqueen was another casualty of the war. One of her personal guard arrived to warn Queen Brennon that the Cult of the Dragon struck at her with several enslaved dragons. I am told he looked at deaths door and refused any aid before he left. There has been no word from the Dragonqueen and all attempts to determine her fate have met with disaster. He did give us the name of the individual responsible for the order to destroy her eggs.

Knight of the Fallen Queen, at present time, you are the last. As it would appear a concerted effort by the cult has been to remove any and all vestiges of the Dragonqueen.

Deedee, your homeland has fared rough, but still weathered the storm. It still remains, though and they will be glad for your return.

Now for the worse news.

Several temples dedicated to Lathlander fell in a single night. The reports are from questioning the remains of the fallen, a single rogue priestess of Sharess led the assaults. More troubling, the priestesses of Sharess are no longer to be found. We do now know if this means that they have sided with the Nightlord or have been ordered to move elsewhere.

The temple dedicated to Oghma was destroyed, all of its works inside, lost. Reports from the survivors that an uncommon trio of a deep gnome rogue, a gnome wizard and a bound immature Glabrazu led the assault on the location. They succeeded in removing several sacred artifacts, including the book of True Names.

Even more disgusting, is the overly prevelant use of infernal machinery. Its as if Gond went insane and ordred his followers to work with Baatazu and Tanari, to learn the most vile methods in working their new wonders, large constructs of which have not been seen before walk amongst their armies. Many have been lost to those machines.

Finally,

There are no more heroes of old. Eliminster, Kelbin and the others of their ilk are either dead, missing, or no longer care for Toril and have chosen to allow it to fall.

I look forward to welcoming each of you.

Lady Lavindra D'rin, Baronet of Deepingdale.

The Finale of the Nightlord Saga

The evil illithids and beholders are still working to sunder the World Stone. As our heroes venture deeper into the caverns can they find enough treasure and potions to sustain them as they take on the villainous mind flayers and beholders and stop them from destroying the World Stone and thereby save Faerun from a second cataclysm!

The world stone is in the far right corner with the Ice Beholder.

Edit: In a climatic battle in which several almost met the grim fate of death and more than one was returned from the brink they won. They defeated the grimlocks, beholders, Eye Tyrant, Illithids and their Hook Horror servants as well as the Illithid Savant named Baihir and stopped them from sundering the world stone. So ends the seventh campagin for the Chronicles of the Six. They all leveled and will be retiring their characters for a while. Ariadine Moonshadow settles down with her library taken from the Illithids and her travels in a tower just outside of Silverymoon.

Grusk takes up the mantle of Kelemvor and is charged with aiding the mission of the Doom Guides in ensuring souls are delivered to their rightful places. He is given this task along with several high ranking doom guides.

Kreek and Marcus settle down and return to Silverymoon to raise their family. Kreek opens a winery and continues in her father's name while her husband becomes a world-reknown bard entertaining the masses.

Lavindra N'Toth returns to her keep and to the Queen Brennon of the Dales and rules with a just wisdom of the celestial host.

Farkus returns to his order of Knights of the Hawk and teaches the young knights the art all the while regaling them with stories of how he defeated the Hook Horror in one fell blow.

Jaraxthus and Chicory return to Waterdeep and open a college of mentalists. They are quickly approached by Kalban and adopted into the Watchers of Waterdeep.

Lance's story is told in the annals of the lords of Lathander. In the Spires of Morning his tales are regaled and revered by those that knew him as he fell fighting the dark evil of Dracula.

Xula is reunited with her people although the Shadowlords have taken a portion of the Anaruch desert and begun to transform it into their own paradise of shadow her people are at least safe from the slavers of the Zhents.

The woman from Chult and the princess from Calimshan continue to make out their existence in the realms never knowing that their world was almost destroyed.

Therin continues to serve as Mask's emissary and spy and every now and then checks on his friends in Faerun.

Daldoth returns to Obold Many Arrows to tell of the tales of the brave heroes from Silverymoon and to warn of further attack against the Lady of Silver. Daldoth remains devoted to doing Gruumsh's dirty work.

The Rot Lord and the 13 necrolords wait in another realm for 1,000 years to be reborn to once again challenge Kelemvor's rule over the dead.

The iconic monsters of Ravenloft continue to be taunted by the dark powers never knowing that their own fate rests within their own selfish ambition.

For our heroes there is rest... For our villains there is justice... The world is once again a somewhat lawful and peaceful place.
